Donna Warwick is a multi-talented teaching artist with experience as a writer, composer, dancer and visual/digital artist. Her unique arts integration classes and camps are a welcome addition to Class Act’s offerings.
Twenty five years ago Donna was one of the co-founders of the Champaign Urbana Ballet and served on the Board of Directors for 13 years. A strong advocate for making the arts available to all, Donna founded C-U Ballet’s Tickets for Families Program, which provides area school children and their parents free tickets to The Nutcracker and other children’s ballets. She has over 20 years of dance training and is an experienced elementary and preschool teacher. Her imaginative Fairytale Ballet Classes were first offerred at Champaign Ballet Academy and the Champaign Park District. Those classes along with the popular Artsfusion Programs, became part of the after school programming at many area schools including Montessori School of Champaign, Montessori Habitat, Early Learning and Joy in Learning Cooperative Homeschool.
In the early years at Class Act, founder Natalie Ellis Monterastelli invited Donna to collaborate with her on what turned out to be the most enchanted Fairytale Theatre Camp in town! Hundreds of children attended and are now all grown up but still cherish those magical memories.
Donna is thrilled to return to Champaign-Urbana for the 2023-24 school year and will continue to serve as University Primary School’s artist-in-residence. She is especially looking forward to rejoining Jacki Loewenstein’s stellar team at Class Act as an after school enrichment teacher.
